Hacienda La Danesa is conveniently located 1 hour drive from Guayaquil in the inlands of Ecuador between Naranjito and Bucay right before the marvelous Andés. Our guests may take one-day excursions from Hacienda La Danesa to Ruinas de Ingapirca, Mercado de Guamote, the Devil’s Nose train and other wonderful off the beaten path locations. The 1,200 (500 hectares) acres estate is surrounded by beautiful fields, forests and rivers, and is directly accessible from the main road, by train or helicopter.
Hacienda La Danesa is conveniently located approximately 67 kilometres or a one hour drive from Guayaquil International Airport GYE. Guests can arrive to the lodge via a private chauffeur car service, train or alternatively enjoy an unforgettable aerial journey via helicopter over Guayaquil.

Ecuador is home to one of the best cacao varieties in the world. The hacienda has been in the Olsen family for over 50 years and is currently owned by the third generation and operated by Niels Olsen Peet.
Helge Olsen-Friis, from Copenhagen, Ecuador, was relocated to Ecuador after World War II and not only fell in love with Pilar Pons but also with the beautiful tropical Ecuadorean country side. Turning his life by 180º, he decided to quit his job in the pharmaceutics industry, marry the woman of his dreams and buy a 500 hectares property to call home which today is called Hacienda La Danesa.
In 1977, the hacienda was inherited by Niels Olsen Pons and Sonia Peet; with it came the love and passion for the farm life away from the city lights and noise. They brought up three kids; Kristel, Niels and Erik and for over 25 years they have kept this small part of heaven to their own enjoyment until Niels Jr. opened the doors of their charming farm house to a limited number of guests who appreciate this magical setting.
Hacienda La Danesa is also a traditional dairy farm that produces about 2000 liters of milk per day and produces fresh cheese for their guests every morning. It also grows teak plantation and breed beautiful pinto quarter horses.

All of our dining experiences are outdoors. We provide with exceptional from farm to table three course menus and à la carte selections. We cater to individual needs.
Curated experiences embrace the hacienda’s efforts to provide authentic experiences with cacao plantation tours, wet tubing in lazy rivers, horse riding, cooking classes, and bike rides. All excursions are focused on preserving local traditions.

Es tiempo de reactivarnos. Hemos tenido una nube gris encima durante las últimas semanas, buscando respuestas que no hay. Comprendo y comparto el dolor de muchos, pero me reconforta saber que los ecuatorianos somos resilientes. Hoy decido reinventarnos: por mi equipo, por mi familia y por mi país. Por muchos meses el turismo se verá muy afectado, pero estamos listos para agarrar esta crisis por los cuernos (con guantes y mascarillas) y poder conectar a la ciudad directamente con el campo. Es necesario volver nuestros ojos al sector rural porque aquí está el potencial de traer la verdadera riqueza para todos. Al conectarnos con la naturaleza, crearemos un impacto positivo durable sobre el bienestar de los ecuatorianos. Nuestro país tiene una riqueza impresionante y podemos agradecerla cuidando a nuestros productores y agricultores, consumiendo productos locales y saludables. Vamos a empezar despacio pero con pasos firmes y seguros. Empezaremos ofreciendo nuestros productos como miel, dulce de leche y chocolate y poco a poco integraremos a nuestros vecinos artesanos en este proyecto.
